Overview

The Der Red Max is a classic Estes model rocket and another of our most requested bring back models...and for good reason. Not only is this a uniquely decorated model, but this model performs as good as it looks. This is one of those model rockets that has a personality all its own!

Standing just a tad over 16 inches (41 cm) tall, the Max is one of our rockets that's a must have in your rocket arsenal. From the long, ballistic-shaped nose cone to the stubby fins and the truly unique decor, this rocket has attitude! Every launch with our standard engines will give you stellar flights over 700 feet (213 m). Recovery is accomplished with a colorful 18 inch (46 cm) preassembled parachute for safe landings

In addition to retaining all of the great looks and flying qualities of the original, this new version now features laser cut balsa fins for improved performance and has a waterslide decal set that replicates the original - including the totally cool skull and crossbones. Pick up a classic Der Red Max today and add it to your collection. You are sure to be the envy of all your model rocket buddies...until they get theirs.

You will need construction tools, finishing materials, an Estes launch system, engines, and four AA alkaline batteries for your controller, igniters and wadding - sold separately. Recommended for ages 10 and up with adult supervision for those under 12.

Detailed Information

Spektrum™ telemetry technology makes it possible for you to get real-time information on your model's battery voltage, motor rpm, motor temperature and more. Many Spektrum transmitters feature built-in telemetry data receivers that let you view this information on their LCD screens. You also have the option of monitoring telemetry using the Spektrum STi™ app for the Apple® iPad®, iPhone® or iPod touch®.

Spektrum is releasing new telemetry sensors and accessories all the time. To give you a feel for what a difference Spektrum telemetry can make, here are some of the most commonly used telemetry features most Spektrum users take advantage of:

The Spektrum™ STi™ Telemetry Interface for iPhone®, iPad® and iPod touch®
The STi lets you transmit vital info from your model’s on-board Spektrum™ telemetry module directly to your iPhone®, iPad® or iPod touch®.* It can also be programmed to alert you when any telemetry value you’re monitoring exceeds limits you define. It’s a great way to keep tabs on your model if you’re flying with a DSM2™/DSMX™ Spektrum or JR®/DSM® transmitter that doesn’t have built-in telemetry. Even with a telemetry-capable transmitter, you can use it to let someone else watch telemetry so you can focus completely on flying.

*Requires the free STi app. Compatible with iPad, iPod touch (4th gen), iPhone 4,    iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and iPhone.

Battery Voltage
Never again will you have to wonder whether or not you have enough voltage to keep flying. Being able to monitor voltage will also help you detect a worn out battery pack before it prematurely ends your flight. The telemetry module is plugged into the receiver and will automatically relay receiver voltage. A separate sensor for tracking flight pack battery voltage in electric aircraft is also available.

Temperature
Is the engine running too lean? Is there enough airflow reaching an electric motor? Is my battery getting too hot? Get real-time answers and take action well before damage occurs.

Signal Quality
Spektrum telemetry modules keep tabs on the quality of the signal coming to the receiver and send this information back to the transmitter where it is represented on the LCD screen.

RPM
Pilots can use the RPM telemetry data to check the effectiveness of new mixture settings, new battery packs, or perhaps a new propeller/motor combination.
